Austin Healey 3000 MK III 1965 (C) Ice Blue/Old English White
DEPOSIT TAKEN - 25th June 2016
The Austin Healey 3000 Mark III was launched in October 1963 and remained in production until the end of 1967. Designated the 'BJ8' the 2+2 Mark III was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys with a standard walnut-veneer dash, wind-up windows and a 2912cc 150bhp Engine. Added power came from a new camshaft and valve springs, twin SU 2" HD8 carburettors and a new exhaust system design. Servo-assisted brakes were also standard as was the Overdrive Gearbox. Options remained otherwise the same except that the standard interior trim was downgraded to Ambla (vinyl) with leather as an extra.
According to the BMIHT Heritage Certificate it was manufactured on 8/9th September 1965 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire - Chassis No: H-BJ8-L/32907 and is a 'matching numbers' car that was built to LHD specification and exported to Chicago, Illinois, USA in October 1965. It is finished in Ice Blue metallic over Old English White with Blue Ambla trim and Blue carpets, Blue mohair Soft Top, Hood Bag and Tonneau cover, Heater, Adjustable Steering Column, Laminated Windscreen, 2912cc 6 Cylinder Engine, 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive on 3rd/4th gears and Chrome Wire Wheels.
It only had 1 owner in Lockport, Illinois before being sold and imported to the UK in August 1995. It underwent a full photographed "body-off chassis" rebuild and mechanical overhaul by Austin Healey specialist 'John Chatham Cars' in Bristol in 1996 and since then it has been regularly maintained by marque specialists including ourselves.
The car has only had 3 former keepers in the UK and was sold by us to an Austin Healey Club official in August 2006 who has now decided that it is time to sell it for someone else to enjoy as it is just not being used.
The car had a genuine 43,000 miles on the clock when it arrived from the USA and it has now covered 63,200 miles from new with a full and comprehensive service history file from 1995 with extensive invoices, MOT certificates, photographs of the rebuild and a number of old Tax Discs.
It has just been serviced and given new MOT and we have fitted some new Chrome Bumpers and Over-Riders and carried out some cosmetic paintwork rectification. The car is in absolutely stunning condition throughout and drives superbly.
This is a very desirable car in this colour scheme and certainly one of the best examples currently for sale! A good investment for the future!
