  • Ducati 350 Scrambler 1975 (N) Red

    Description

The Ducati Scrambler is a 'Classic' in every sense of the word. It was primarily intended for the American market but was hugely successful in Europe and was one of Ducati's best selling bikes.

The reasons for the Scrambler's commercial success were manifold. It had an excellent frame and an engine that was perfectly suited for its function. It was not the fastest bike of its day, but its general performance and absolutely centred riding position made it one of the most delightful machines of its era.
It was extremely stylish with rounded lines - simultaneously classical and modern and came in bright colours contrasting with the black running gear and chrome components.

The 350 Scrambler was powered by a 340cc SOHC engine that was mated to a five-speed gearbox and it came with a 9.5-1 compression ratio that provided much needed performance improvements to the bike.

This beautiful Ducati 350 Scrambler Chassis No: 71067 and Engine No: DM350431705 was not built in Italy, but was originally built under license by MotoTrans in Barcelona on 4th February 1975. Moto Trans produced motorcycles and scooters between 1957 and 1983 - when it was bought by Yamaha - and was famous for licensing Ducati engines and using them in their own MotoTrans motorcycles as well as building Ducati motorcycles under license.

This motorcycle was purchased by a resident in Palma, Majorca, Spain and registered with the Palma number plate PM-G 0986. It was owned by him from new and was therefore a One owner bike until it was purchased directly from him in 2017 by an Italian customer of ours here in London who was on holiday in Majorca at the time.

He sent the bike to Italy for a cosmetic restoration by a Ducati specialist in Puglia, southern Italy, but unfortunately all of the paperwork and documents for the motorcycle were lost during transit to Italy, so unfortunately there is no previous documentation from its time in Spain.

Upon completion of the restoration in Italy it was imported to the UK in July 2018 and after obtaining a dating letter from the Ducati Owners Club and an inspection by the DVLA, we registered it here with the number plate KPW 943N.

It is in beautiful condition and rides superbly and the indicated 9,699 Kilometers on the Speedometer we are told is its original mileage from new, but again we cannot confirm this due to the lack of history, but we are pretty confident that it is genuine!
