Jaguar XK 150 3.4 FHC 1959 (Historic Plate) Black
According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, this stunning UK RHD Jaguar XK150 3.4 Litre Fixed Head Coupe - VIN No: S 824805 DN - Engine No: V 5949-8 is an all 'Matching Numbers' car which was built at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in Coventry on 10th March 1959 and sold by P J Evans in Birmingham to its first owner a Mr R A Woodward from Birmingham and registered on 16th April 1959 with the number plate YOC 500 which it still retains today.
This car is designated as an 'SE' (Special Equipment) Model and is finished in its original specification of Black with its original Red Leather Trim, new Red Carpets, refurbished Burr Walnut Dashboard, 3.4 Litre S6 Engine, 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive, Cooper Craft Brakes, new 'Electric Power Steering' and Chrome Wire Wheels.
The following is a not so brief synopsis of the cars ownership from new:
Mr Woodward sold the car after 13 years of ownership in April 1972 to a Mr L Evans of Walsall, Staffordshire and at that time the mileage on the car which is documented was a low 22,234 miles.
Mr Evans did not keep the car very long at all and he sold it in July 1972 to a Mr Barr who lived in Yorkshire. Mr Barr kept the car for 4 years and sold it to car dealer Chris Baines Ltd in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
They subsequently sold the car to a Mr Pierre Richterich from Guiseley, West Yorkshire on 1st July 1976 with the mileage on the invoice of 25,140.
Mr Richterich kept the car in storage for most of his 31 years of ownership and he only drove 1,870 miles during this time as confirmed by the MOT carried out by Glovers Garages Ltd in Ilkley on 4th June 2007 with the mileage shown on the certificate of 27,010. He sold the car a month later on 10th July 2007 to a Mr Nicholas Rochez from Chichester, West Sussex.
Mr Rochez did not keep the car long and gave it to Jaguar XK specialist Twyford Moors in Clanfield, Hampshire to sell on his behalf and they sold the car for £35,000 to a Mr Peter Reid from Dorchester, Dorset on 20th December 2007 when the mileage was 27,276.
Mr Reid kept the car for seven years and he kept a log of all of his expenditure on the car over these 7 years which amounted to almost £30,000 and this included an Engine rebuild in April 2009 with the mileage at 29,348 miles and a full body restoration and repaint in 2010. Copies of every invoice for this expenditure is contained in the history file.
Mr Reid sold the car to the current owner Mr David Carr from Ringwood in Hampshire in September 2014 when the mileage was 42,516.
Mr Carr had the car serviced by Independent Jaguar specialist Hollygrove in Ringwood until moving to London in 2015 when the car went to well-known Jaguar specialist Chris Coleman of the Jaguar Workshop in Ealing, West London. He has also spent almost £10,000 on the car during his 4 years of ownership including the fitting of 'Electric Power Steering' (£4,620) last year.
He has attended many Jaguar Owners Club events and rallies during his ownership and the car is only being sold now due to his wife suffering from a bad back and she finds the seats a little too unsupportive compared to modern day cars, so unfortunately it has to be passed on to a new lucky owner!
The car was MOT'd by the Jaguar Workshop on 21st June 2018 and passed with no advisories with the mileage on the speedometer at 45,980 which we can confirm is its genuine mileage from new. It has only covered 16,632 miles since the Engine was rebuilt in 2009 however.
This really is an exceptional car in every respect with lovely bodywork, its original Leather Seats with wonderful patina and with the mechanical upgrades, it drives beautifully. A perfect car for Classic Rallies and touring and a car that will continue to rise in value, so a good investment as well!
NB: The car is shown with a Mota-Lita Steering Wheel, but its original Steering Wheel does come with the car.
