Triumph TR4 1963 (A) Red
The car was taken off the road and partially dismantled in 1983 with 27,000 miles on the clock but the owner died before completing the project. It was then dry stored until 2016 when I bought the car as a nut and bolt, body off restoration project.
The car has done 4,000 miles since completing the re-build. Kept as original as possible with sensible upgrades such as stainless steel exhaust and manifold, poly-bushes, dynator, electronic ignition, high torque starter motor and stainless steel bumpers.
The engine, gearbox, and overdrive were fully re-built. Engine converted to unleaded with road cam giving wide power band and bags of torque.
This year a Revington TR backlight and surrey top - with TR6 type header rail with clamps - was fitted. The original hood frame, a new hood, and all the fittings and trim are included.
Also the carbs were swapped for a pair of more reliable SUs which have made the engine sparkle. The original Strombergs, a spare set, and various other stromberg spares are included.
Other spares include brake master cylinder, ignition coil, rotor arm, Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition unit, green stuff front brake pads, and oil filters.
With the backlight fitted and the overdrive engaged this is a refined tourer with loads of torque. A very sound car - not concours but in excellent condition - would easily win local shows. Ready to tour and show.
Full photographic record of the re-build and short pdf explanation of the progress available. Also as of today [21 Dec 19] a video of the underside.
MOT certificate from 1983, and although now exempt the car is MOTd until May 2020. Heritage certificate. Agreed valuation for insurance is currently £30,000.
