  • Triumph TR6 150 bhp 1970 (J) Red

    Description

    DEPOSIT TAKEN
According to the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, this beautiful 150bhp TR6 was built on 14th August 1970 and supplied to Triumph Distributor P J Evans in Birmingham who sold it to its first owner in Worcestershire on 11th November 1970.

Finished in Signal Red with Black vinyl trim, Black carpets, Black Mohair Soft Top, Walnut Dashboard, 2.5 litre Fi Engine, 4 Speed Gearbox with Overdrive on 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears and its original refurbished Steel Wheels. A restoration was started on this car by Mr Paul Hodges of Leighton Buzzard who bought the car in September 1988 and although we cannot confirm it, we believe this was a 'body-off chassis' rebuild with many new panels fitted including floors, inner & outer sills, B Posts, decks and inner and outer wings and there are invoices from Cox & Buckles (now Moss) and the TR Shop in London for the parts used during the restoration. The colour was also changed from its original Yellow to Signal Red at this time.

Although not completely finished, the car was sold in April 1994 to the current recorded owner and the restoration was completed with the help of TR specialist Enginuity in London and Triumph specialist T & M Classics of Thame in Oxfordshire.
Upon final completion in August 1995 a reconditioned speedometer was fitted with the old unit having recorded 43,838 miles.
The car was put into storage in 2003 and it remained in his garage for almost 10 years before being sold to Essex County Classics of Tillingham, Essex last year.
They have just finished re-commissioning the car for sale and due to some discoloration of the paintwork, they have repainted the car to an exceptionally high standard. They have also fitted some new trim parts, a new windscreen and both driver & passenger door glass?s, new rubber seals throughout and a new Black mohair Soft Top.

Various ancillaries have also been replaced, but the Engine & Gearbox and the mechanics generally were found to be in excellent condition, although they have fitted a new Clutch.
The underside of the car has been fully waxoyled and the overall condition of the floors and chassis are excellent.

Unfortunately there is not very much early history with the car apart from a few invoices, an old MOT certificate, and an early Log Book, but the Heritage Certificate which we have just obtained does confirm that it is a matching numbers car. Current mileage now since the rebuild is 3,071 and we believe that the actual mileage from new is circa 46,909 miles, but of course we cannot confirm this.

This car is in near 'Concours' condition now and drives beautifully, so it has to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.

It will come fully serviced with our own customer care package including 12 months MOT, HPI/provenance Checks, 55-point pre-delivery inspection and 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
