  • Triumph TR6 1971 (K) Burgundy

    Description

According to the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, this LHD 1971 Triumph TR6 - Chassis No: CC/67474-L was built on 13th July 1971 and was registered on 1st August 1971 with the Coventry registration mark AHP 307K as a Personal Export Delivery before being despatched on 10th September 1971 to British Leyland Motors in Newark, New Jersey, USA.

When the car was built, it was finished in Damson with a Black interior and Black Soft Top and the following factory options are shown on the Heritage Certificate:
Heater, Laminated Windscreen, Black Tonneau Cover, USA/Canada specification lights, 185 x 15 Goodyear Tyres, Anti-Smog Engine, Jack, Tool Kit Roll and Spare Wheel.

The car was registered in the USA in 1971 with the Californian number 187 VML, but nothing is known of its history in the USA, although it was repainted in a lovely Burgundy Metallic at some point before it was sold by its owner in Rialto, California in April 1990 to dealer Burnells of Rothwell, West Yorkshire and imported to the UK.

The car has never been re-registered here since it arrived and we are just in the process of registering it with the DVLA and hopefully on its original Coventry number plate. We are unsure as to what work if any has been carried out on the car over the last 30 years, but we do know that at some point the original Engine and Gearbox were removed and a UK 'CR' prefix 125bhp Fuel injected Engine and Overdrive Gearbox have been installed. The mileage on the speedometer is showing 87,932 which could be its original mileage from new, but we are unable to confirm this without its early history from the USA, plus it now has a replacement Fuel injected engine fitted in any event.

We are now preparing it for sale and have fitted some replacement Mazda MX5 Seats (the original seats are not too bad but require new foams and some stitching, but they will come with the car if required), a brand new Black vinyl Soft Top, new rear Brakes, 4 x new Yokohama 195 x 65 x 15 Tyres and detailing.

The car is completely rust free and only requires some cosmetic paintwork attention to a few marks/chips but it is not too bad at all. We will be giving the car a new MOT and pre-sales service before it is sold.

The car does drive very well and at this price it does represent excellent value compared to similar RHD examples currently for sale. Perfect for touring on the continent of course.

    New photographs to follow shortly.
