About this BMW R50
DEPOSIT TAKEN
This BMW R50 Motorcycle - Chassis No: R50561039 and Engine No: R50561039 is a 'Matching Numbers' motorcycle and was built on September 2nd, 1959 by BMW in Germany, supplied through dealer Ulrich Seiwert in Frankfurt, Germany and delivered to Club Motors (PTY) Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa on 16th September 1959 and first registered with the numberplate BCX 294W in October 1959.
Unfortunately, little is known of its early life in South Africa, but we do know that it was the subject of a fairly comprehensive restoration between 1995 and 1998 by the then owner - Bob Hooper who was the Chairman of the Classic Motorcycle Club in South Africa. We are trying to obtain a little more history on the bike through him.
It was in storage for a number of years before we bought it from a dealer in South Africa and it was recommissioned/serviced for us by a BMW motorcycle specialist in Cape Town before shipping to the UK. It really is in superb condition with an excellent engine and we are just finishing preparing the bike for sale and are in the process of obtaining BMW Build/Dating letter from BMW in Germany via the BMW Club here in England and will then apply for UK registration with the DVLA.
Further details to follow shortly.
On display @ our showrooms in Mortlake, SW London.
