About this Jaguar MK2

The Jaguar Mk II was launched in October 1959 to replace the 2.4 & 3.4 litre saloons, which immediately became known as the Mk I and the Mark II and it was a fast and capable saloon with Sir William Lyons' using the 1950's advertising slogan 'Grace, Space and Pace'.

Originally available with all three versions of the advanced Jaguar XK engine, the 2.4, 3.4, and 3.8 litre, the Mk II was heavily based on its predecessor but had a much lighter and more modern appearance. This was mainly due to a much larger glass area achieved by the use of deeper windows and slimmer window frames that were no longer part of the door mouldings. There were also many detail trim changes, and whilst the interior had undergone a complete redesign, it remained very luxurious with wood veneer and leather in abundance. Mechanically, the rear track had been widened and improvements were made to the suspension geometry. The 2.4 & 3.4 litre engines were carried forward from the Mk I but they had both gained slightly more power, and a third engine - the 3.8 litre, was now available. The 3.8 litre Mk II had outstanding performance and was for a long time the fastest production saloon car in the world. It was discontinued in 1967 with the introduction of the almost identical 240 & 340 saloon, but this time there was no 3.8 version.

This beautiful 1965 Jaguar MKII 3.4 - Chassis No: 169293DN and Engine No: KS758018 is a 'Matching Numbers' car and was first registered in Exeter, Devon on the 25th October 1965. It is finished in Indigo Blue with a Red Leather interior and Red carpets, Walnut Dashboard, A new Wooden Mota-Lita Steering Wheel, its original 3.4 Litre Straight Six Engine and now fitted with the desirable Getrag 5 Speed Manual Gearbox in place of its original Moss 4 Speed Gearbox and Overdrive, Power Assisted Steering, uprated Cooper Craft Brakes and copper brake pipes, Kenlowe Electric Cooling Fan, Electronic Ignition, Heated Rear Window, uprated Radiomobile 80 Classic Radio, Alternator conversion, Koni Adjustable Shock Absorbers, uprated front Coil Springs and rear Leaf Springs and its original Tool Kit + a new set of Chrome Wire Wheels.

The car was purchased by the previous owner in 1995 and the car was completely rebuilt for him by Four Classics in Wimbledon, South West London and finally completed in 2001. There are a huge number of invoices and works sheets + photographs in the history file relating to this restoration and the mileage on the speedometer on its first MOT after the works was 88,758.

After nearly 23 years of ownership and hardly using the car, covering only 1,396 miles since the restoration, he decided to sell it and subsequently sold the car for him to the current registered keeper in July 2017 with 90,154 miles on the clock. During his ownership, he has had the car repainted again due to some micro blistering having occurred and he has also had a new set of Chrome Wire Wheels fitted, but other than routine servicing, it has not required any additional works and the mileage on the speedometer is now reading 92,442 which we believe is its mileage from new.

Photographs shown are from 2017, but a new set will follow upon completion of our showroom preparation and upon sale, the car will have a new MOT and lubrication service/checkover and it will come with our own 6 month mechanical warranty.

Car will be ready to view at our showrooms in Mortlake, South West London shortly.
